How to choose cut-resistant materials that suit specific needs?
2025-12-18

I. Clarify the core usage requirements

Cutting risk intensity

Low-risk scenarios (such as daily packaging and sorting, and light glass handling) : Choose lightweight and cut-resistant materials, such as ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene fiber (UHMWPE) fabrics, which balance protection and flexibility.

scenarios (such as mechanical processing, slaughtering, and metal grinding) : Prioritize aramid fiber (Kevlar) or a blend of UHMWPE and stainless steel wire to enhance the resistance to cutting.

Extremely high-risk scenarios (such as heavy machinery operation and explosion-proof security) : Stainless steel wire braided materials and titanium alloy composite plates are selected. These materials have the strongest resistance to cutting, but their flexibility will be somewhat reduced.

Additional environmental requirements

High-temperature resistance requirements (such as welding and metallurgy) : Exclude UHMWPE that is not heat-resistant and choose aramid fibers and glass fiber reinforced materials. These materials can maintain their performance in an environment above 200℃.

Corrosion resistance requirements (such as in chemical and Marine operations) : Avoid ordinary steel wires that are prone to rust. Choose UHMWPE, titanium alloy, and glass fiber reinforced plastic, which are resistant to acids and alkalis and do not age easily.

quirements (such as food processing, catering and slaughtering) : Choose cut-resistant fabrics with a polyurethane coating on the surface, which are both cut-resistant and easy to clean.

Flexibility requirements

For fine hand operations (such as electronic component processing and jewelry polishing) : Pure UHMWPE or thin aramid fiber materials are preferred. They are soft in texture, have a high degree of adhesion, and do not affect finger movement.

No fine operation is required (such as heavy material handling, equipment protection) : Steel wire mixed weaving and hard composite plates can be selected. The priority of protection is higher than that of flexibility.
